Why Cloaking Will Eventually Kill Your Brand
Sooner or later, someone will offer your peptide brand a shortcut: "We'll get your ads approved with cloaking. Reviewers see a safe page, customers see your website." It sounds like the answer to every ad problem. It isn't.
What cloaking is
Cloaking means showing different content to ad platform reviewers than to real visitors. The system detects whether a visitor is a reviewer or a bot and shows them a harmless page, while real customers see the actual offer.
Every major ad platform explicitly bans it. It's treated as one of the most serious policy violations, alongside fraud.
Why it seems to work
Cloaking can work for a while. Ads get approved, traffic flows and sales come in. Some agencies show impressive short-term results. That's what makes it dangerous: it feels like success right up until it collapses.
How it gets caught
Platforms invest heavily in detecting cloaking. They use real-user reviews, clean devices, residential IPs, user reports and machine learning on landing page behavior. Detection isn't a possibility. It's a timeline.
What happens when it's caught
The consequences go far beyond one rejected ad.
- Permanent account bans, often with no appeal
- Linked account bans: business managers, personal profiles and other accounts connected to you
- Domain flags that make it harder to advertise that domain again
- Payment processor risk, since processors monitor for deceptive marketing
- Lost data: pixel history, audiences and learnings disappear overnight
Brands that rely on cloaking often have to start over completely, with a new domain, new accounts and sometimes a new business entity.
The hidden cost
Even before it's caught, cloaking holds your brand back. You can't build real audience data, your creative never improves because it's not designed to pass review, and you can't confidently scale spend because you know the floor could drop at any moment. You're not building a business. You're renting time.
What to do instead
The sustainable path takes more discipline, but it compounds.
- Brand-led creative about quality, testing and service
- Honest pre-landers and landing pages that reviewers can see
- Clear research-use-only labelling everywhere
- Strong email and SMS so you own your audience
- Diversified traffic across channels
- A backup payment processor
These brands may scale a little slower at first, but they're still running a year later, while cloaking brands are starting from scratch again.
Questions to ask any agency
Before hiring anyone to run your ads, ask directly: do you use cloaking, redirects or any form of reviewer detection? If the answer is anything other than a clear no, walk away.
The bottom line
Cloaking trades your brand's future for a few good weeks. The peptide brands that win long-term are the ones that build on compliant foundations. We never use cloaking, for any client, under any circumstances.
